Barb Lefever is the owner operator of Barb's Dog Logic LLC. Ms Barb brings her many years of experience to Ohio.
Moving to Ohio in 2008, Ms Barb first learned dog obedience from Judie Howard of Arydith Obedience School in Moraga, California 1990. Growing up in Northern Minnesota, Barb had a dog named Bridgette who became her best friend. Bridgette comforted Barb during the tumultuous teen years and pulled her through it with that unconditional love that only a dog can give. Barb's dream was to move to SF Bay area as an adult, and that is exactly what she did. Carving out a successful corporate career, Ms Barb went out in search of dog to share her love of life. That dog, was Abby.
Abby was the shelter dog that changed Barb's life. Abby's shy, shut-down behavior was transformed into a fun, happy, outgoing dog that "arrroo=ROO'd" to greet people at the Martinez, California pet stores they frequented. This was living proof that positive dog training can create World Peace.
Abby and Barb met fellow Arydith Alumni Pat Miller and Pat's adorable scruffy terrier mix Josie. Today, Ms Barb reconnected with Pat Miller and glowingly admires Pat for her success in the Dog World. (go find Pat Miller and her Peaceable Paws business where you can also become a dog trainer, it will change your life and indeed, it might change the world.)
After life with Abby in California, life took Ms Barb to her next adventure when she moved to Kansas with her first Irish Terrier named Max. Max was Abby's polar opposite. Max was an aggressive, hard to manage dog that pushed Ms Barb beyond your worst nightmare scenario. Max had been a "rescue" dog adopted out by an Irish Terrier organization. Boy-Howdy was he mislabeled. Barb "rescued" the family from doing what should have been done. Max did a great job of teaching Ms Barb EXTREMELY good skills at reading dog language.
Relocating from Kansas City to Duluth, Minnesota in the mid 1990's took Ms Barb to her next dog, Oliver Twist of Fate. He was a Cairn Terrier puppy she bought from the Sunday Classified ads. By this time, Ms Barb was caring for her aging Grandfather and took Oliver to dog school where she made lifelong friends.
Being immersed in dog savvy skills and bubbling over with the enthusiasm and charm of a born-again bible thumper, Ms Barb designed a logo and began to train dogs after her Grandfather passed away. THAT was the birth of Dog Logic. Dog Training is not for the faint of heart. Still working to pay the mortgage, Ms Barb trained dogs and boarded dogs in her spare time and since moving to Ohio late 2008, she devotes full time energy to the dogs. . . training, boarding, grooming and the occasional puppy she buys, trains, and sells "ready to go" and therapy dog ready, service dog prepped.
Public Speaking has always been another dream. Being no stranger to depression, Ms Barb has opened up about her lifelong battle with depression, overcoming Bulimia (an eating disorder battle lasting 27 years), and less than a year ago,the most recent really great big huge surprise, learning she has ADHD. Organization and time management are areas that need a makeover, but if you are patient and kind and willing.... call and text, text and email, and You Will Get the best dog trainer money can buy. Period. You will not find anyone more devoted.
2023 and on the cusp of 2024: Ms Barb continues to share her devoted passion to dogs and makes people laugh at her very animated, sincere and still naive life stories that unfold. Always seeing the good in all.
