Dog Logic is Born

Barb Lefever is the owner operator of Barb's Dog Logic LLC. Ms Barb brings her many years of experience to Ohio.
Moving to Ohio in 2008, Ms Barb first learned dog obedience from Judie Howard of Arydith Obedience School in Moraga, California 1990. Growing up in Northern Minnesota, Barb had a dog named Bridgette who became her best friend. Bridgette became her best friend, at a time during her teen years that she was bullied by classmates. Ms Barb believes that the unconditional love that only a dog can give is a valuable asset. To this day, Lefever donates time to the local 4H dog club when needed, as a way to give back to our younger generation. Barb's dream was to move to SF Bay area as an adult, and that is exactly what she did. Carving out a successful corporate career in telecommunications, Lefever earned the prestigious Customer Service Legend Award in 1992 for her tireless dedication to helping customers at PacTel Mobile Services. She also earned the nickname "Miss PacTel" as a result of her reputation for "Going the Extra Mile" no matter what . Success in the business world also gave way to a better lifestyle and afforded her the ability to finally have the house with a yard, and a great home where a dog would thrive. Ms Barb went out in search of dog to share her love of life. That dog, was Abby. Abby was the shelter dog that changed Barb's life. Abby's shy, shut-down behavior was transformed into a fun, happy, outgoing dog that "arrroo=ROO'd" to greet people at the Martinez, California pet stores they frequented. Ms Barb was hand-picked by Judie Howard to become one of Arydith's Dog Obedience Instructors as a result of Abby's amazing transformation. The years being an apprentice under the wisdom of Judie Howard built the strong foundation of "Thinking Like a Dog" that is Lefever's quality milestone. Abby and Barb met fellow Arydith Alumni Pat Miller and Pat's adorable scruffy terrier mix Josie. Today, Ms Barb reconnected with Pat Miller and glowingly admires Pat for her success in the Dog World. (check out Pat Miller and her Peaceable Paws business, Pat Miller is an author and world classs dog trainer.) After life with Abby in California, life took Ms Barb to her next adventure when she moved to Kansas with her first Irish Terrier named Max. Max was Abby's polar opposite. Max was an aggressive, hard to manage dog that pushed Ms Barb beyond your worst nightmare scenario. Max had been a "rescue" dog adopted out by an Irish Terrier organization. Barb "rescued" the family from doing what should have been done. Max did a great job of teaching Ms Barb EXTREMELY good skills at reading dog language, as he was hyper aggressive and a dangerous dog. Not all "rescue" organizations understand the implications of letting aggressive dogs go out and live in society. Although rare, there are some aggressive dogs that are put up for adoption. There is a huge difference between a normal dog and a dog who has a screw loose. If you find yourself in need of some advice, Barb can safely ascertain what kind of dog you have. Most dogs are willing to learn and become great members of society. The many dogs Lefever has trained, and the hundreds of clients she has helped is evident from the glowing reviews. A longtime friend from the years spent in Californa did some match making and, connected Barb with her future husband. Of course, he also loves dogs, but leaves the dog training to Barb. Moving to Ohio in 2008, Barb has been part of the Wooster community and helps the Wayne County, Ashland County, Medina County, Holmes County, Stark County and any Ohio resident that lives within a reasonable driving distance to West Salem, Ohio where Barb and her family live. In addition to being a favorite dog trainer of local Veterinarians, Ms Barb also continues her personal dog training knowledge through AKC Competition events and attending upper level Competition dog training. She believes in being a student as well as being a teacher, and is quick to point out there is always something new to learn. Ms Barb feels that every dog is a unique individual and tailors her training to meet your needs. No two training sessions are the same. There is no cookie cutter method when you call Barb's Dog Logic. Every person is different and every dog is unique, she trains to meet your needs. On occasion, when Lefever finds a puppy (typically a Goldendoodle or mix like that), that is extra special; she will buy the puppy, raise and train it and then will sell the "ready to go" trained dog. Among her graduates there are 4 Service Dogs. All dogs she raises get the unique imprint of Dog Logic. As if the pup learns the human equivalent of common sense and good manners.
